WCO-WCA: Frédéric Théodore INAMO replaces Inspector General DIALLO as Vice-Chair

An emotional handover ceremony took place on September 11 in Bamako, Mali. Inspector General Diallo, Director General of Malian Customs, handed over the keys to the Vice-Chairmanship of the World Customs Organization for the West and Central Africa region (WCO-WCA) to Frédérick Théodore Inamo, Director General of Customs and Indirect Taxes of the Central African Republic.

This succession marks the Central African Republic’s growing prominence in the African customs sector. It places the country at the heart of regional customs governance and reflects a Central African diplomacy committed to the continent’s major economic issues.

« Leading the WCO-WCA region on behalf of the Central African Republic is not a privilege, but a duty towards our peoples. Behind every customs formality, there are working men and women, economies seeking to advance, and markets that need to communicate better », stated Frédérick Théodore Inamo.

Missions

Strengthening cooperation among the 23 member states of the region, while working to modernize methods, share experiences, and foster mutual assistance—these are the foundations upon which the new WCO-WCA Vice-Chair intends to build. In his view, these elements should enable customs administrations to become true engines of shared prosperity.

By assuming this responsibility, the Central African Republic reaffirms its commitment to actively contributing to major regional initiatives. The modernization of procedures, professional ethics, trade facilitation, and improved service to users are expected to be the key priorities of this mandate.
