Africa Global Logistics : Gladys Laure Mercier Joins AGL as Regional IFF Manager for Cameroon, Chad and CAR

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has appointed Gladys Laure Mercier as Regional International Freight Forwarding (IFF) Manager, entrusting her with oversight of operations across Cameroon, Chad and the Central African Republic. The appointment marks a new chapter for the logistics executive, who joins AGL after spending six years at CEVA Logistics, where she played a key role in developing the company’s freight forwarding activities in Cameroon.

Announcing her arrival, Mercier expressed enthusiasm about taking on broader regional responsibilities. « I am delighted to join Africa Global Logistics as Regional IFF Manager covering Cameroon, Chad and the Central African Republic. I approach this new challenge with ambition, humility and a strong determination to create value, support team growth and contribute to our collective success, » she said.

AGL described Mercier as a seasoned logistics professional with extensive expertise in commercial development, key account management and freight forwarding operations. « With more than 15 years of experience in international logistics, she brings solid expertise in business development, key account management and the management of freight forwarding activities, » the company said.

Mercier began her logistics career in 2011 after earning qualifications in Business Administration and Management from TANGRAM, the CMA CGM Group’s training and innovation center, which maintains academic partnerships with institutions including HEC Paris.

She first worked with Campower Sarl before joining Invest Logistics as Sales Manager in September 2011. Nearly two years later, she moved to Swiss logistics giant Panalpina as a Sales Representative before taking up a Branch Manager position at HLOG. Over the years, she established herself as one of the leading commercial and freight forwarding professionals in Cameroon, building expertise across business development, customer acquisition and strategic account management.

Regional Mandate

In her new role, Mercier will spearhead the development of AGL’s International Freight Forwarding business across the three Central African markets under her supervision. Her responsibilities will include expanding commercial activities, strengthening relationships with strategic clients, driving business growth and supporting operational excellence across the region. She will also work closely with other business units to enhance service quality and deliver integrated logistics solutions.

According to the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), freight forwarders serve as intermediaries that organize international cargo transportation, customs clearance and documentation on behalf of clients without directly operating the transport assets involved.

Driving CEVA’s Growth in Cameroon

Mercier joins AGL with a track record of delivering strong commercial results. During her tenure at CEVA Logistics, she was instrumental in building the company’s local presence and transforming its operations into a sustainable business. Reflecting on her achievements, she said she developed the customer portfolio from the ground up, helped establish CEVA as a long-term player in the Cameroonian market and significantly expanded revenues over a five-year period.

She also led the implementation of the CMA CGM Group’s commercial strategy at the local level, expanded cross-selling initiatives between CMA CGM and CEVA, and managed strategic accounts, performance indicators, customer satisfaction and collections.

Mercier’s appointment comes as AGL continues to strengthen its position in Central Africa. The logistics group employs more than 3,100 people across 12 sites in the region and operates an integrated network connecting African trade corridors with international supply chains.

For AGL, the arrival of a seasoned executive with deep knowledge of the Central African logistics market is expected to support the company’s ambitions in freight forwarding and regional growth.
